Avoid These Makeup Mistakes to Get Flawless Makeup

While you might be doing makeup almost every day, few common mistakes are often repeated without even knowing. Here are 8 common mistakes to avoid to achieve that flawless makeup look.

  • The foremost makeup mistake that you need to avoid at any cost is to doing makeup in wrong lighting. Natural light is the best source of light for doing makeup. Unnatural light, if not correct, can ruin your makeup look completely. The harsh unnatural light can trick you into putting too much of foundation, bronzer or even blush. Try applying makeup in natural light, as far as possible.
  • Using makeup beyond its shelf life is a big no-no. Most cosmetic products have an expiration date and last good for up to 6-months to 1 year. Using them beyond this date can cause skin irritation, foul smell in makeup and much more. Once the makeup has expired, it is advisable to toss them away and refresh your collection.
  • While powder helps to set the foundation and keeps liquid makeup in place, too much of powder on the face may make the face look cakey. This may create patchy makeup.
  • Applying too much bronzer on your face will give you a dark look instead of the sun-kissed look you want. Just apply the bronzer in light sweeps on forehead, cheekbones, temples and nose instead of the whole face.
  • Eyeshadow blending requires a lot of patience and practice. Uneven eyeshadow application can give you raccoon eyes and create harsh lines around the eyes. The trick is to start with a nude or lighter shade and slowly build up the color. To dark eyeshadows should be used sparingly just to accentuate the eyes.
  • While well done, eyebrows enhance the makeup and frame the face, too dark eyebrows look fake. Go natural with well-groomed eyebrows.
  • Blushes can brighten up your face. But too much of it can give you a clown face and look funny. Just take a little of the right shade of blush, brush off the excess and lightly sweep over your cheekbones. Fair to medium skin tones should choose from pinks and peaches while dusky complexions should go for earthy tones.
  • Curling up our lashes before applying the mascara gives your lashes volume and make your eyes look bigger, however, never curl your eyelashes after applying the mascara. It will make your lashes prone to breakage as well as give them kinks.
